Besides the
facts and figures of municipal government, reports from the Chief Engineer,
the "Police Justice", the City Library, and the Superintendent of
Repairs of Highways and Bridges, help show what Concord was like during the middle
part of the Nineteenth Century.

The Concord records for 1864-1873 follow the same organizational pattern of the
previous ten years. In addition to basic annual budgets,
sometimes lengthy reports from the different city departments provide information and
insights into Concord life.

Starting with Concord records for 1875, a brief index appears at
the end of annual reports for 1875, 1876, 1877, and 1878. Because the
annual reports had become substantially larger, with more reports from city
departments, an index becomes a helpful tool.
